Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum

We decided to have dim sum at this well-known restaurant located in Damansara Uptown on our day off college. It's usually enjoyed as breakfast, but having it as lunch wouldn't hurt.

Parking can be a bit of a pain on a weekday in that area but the restaurant do offer free valet services for customers; although it did mean that your car may be illegally double parking, it'll still be looked after so you may enjoy your meal with a relaxed heart. If the parking appears to be all occupied, no worries. There's a building that offers parking nearby that would be just a 5minutes walking distance away for RM1 on the first 3 hours.

Siew Mai (L) & Har Gaw (R) - RM4.50/ea

Siew Mai and Har Gaw, the common favorites by Malaysians; a have to try, in every dim sum restaurant. They both taste very satisfying, food can be tell to be made fresh as the texture of the meat and prawn is chewy and juicy.

Mixed Steam Rice Roll - RM4.80
We ordered a plate of Mixed Steam Rice Rolls (Chee Cheong Fun) stuffed with prawn and meat. Tastes fairly good, but I'd to order ones with individual type of meat instead of the mixed one as the taste of the meat and prawn didn't really compliment each other. The XO sauce served with it isn't really up to par for me either.

Golden Bun - RM3.60

Their popular dish, The Golden Bun or "Lau Sar Pau" is a must try. As soon as you take a bite, the hot and smooth custard just flows and melts in your mouth. Definitely worth the money. The bun itself was well made too; soft and fluffy. Best enjoyed as soon as it is served; hot!

Char Siew Sou/ Baked Roast Pork Pastry - RM4
Made and kept fresh, it is also well baked. Scrumptious to the very last bite. The texture outside is just as it looks like, crunchy. The Char Siew is satisfying too.

Fried Salad Shrimp - RM4.50
Fried then smothered with butter to bake, gives it a crunchy outside but soft in the inside. Size of the shrimp is not disappointing at all. Served with mayonnaise.

Fried Prawn Roll - RM4.50

Not much difference with the dish above but, nevertheless all the same, enjoyable. This one is crunchier though, due to its thin texture. Also served with mayonnaise.

Green Stuffed Chilli

A random craving ordered by a group member. Not spicy at all since, they nicely had all the seeds removed. Good enjoyment for those who can't take spicy chillies.

Deep Fried Turnip Cake - RM4
Our final dish. This is too, is well made. Texture is smooth and savory. Nothing more I can say to it.

.

Considering that we went on a weekday afternoon, the food were all still made and kept fresh. The prices were all affordable even for college students like us. Each of us only had to fork out about RM13 to go home satisfyingly stuffed.

Services and environment is good, clean and comfortable. (We had a group mate who wanted to order Milo Ais with little ice but she tripped all over her words and ordered, "Milo Ais, tak nak ais." It wasn't understood so we were sent with another server who would be more fluent with us. You gotta say that is good service for our first server could have just went on and make the order with his own assumptions.)
